Richard MacDonald

The First Twenty-Five

From April 25 to June 15, 2014 the American sculptor Richard MacDonald, specialized in dancers and acrobats sculptures and narrowly linked to the Cirque du Soleil and to the Royal Ballet of London, will visit Barcelona this spring invited by the MEAM (European Museum of Modern Art). It will be the first time that he will expose his work in Spain, called The First’s Twenty-Five (Figurative Sculptures).

This memorable sample goes through out his 25 years of career and everyone will be able to visit the exposition in MEAM’s first floor and in the courtyard from April 29 to June 15, 2014, it will include a wide range of work that the sculpture genius has done during all these years.

The beauty of human figures in movement has a universal meaning, that’s why MacDonald bets for this particular way of making art. He makes a deep and strict study of every subject he works on and what’s more important is that he bases on direct experiences. The recognition of his work has been permanently exposed at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas with an overview from Asia to Europe.

MacDonald has spent 25 years taking pictures to dancers from all around the world including the Cirque du Soleil. MacDonald is the only authorized by the troupe to sneak into the backstage, which has unlimited access artist and unprecedented in the history of this famous company. Also its link to the Royal Ballet of London.
