Marcos Lozano

The MEAM presents, as part of the Solo Exhibition Award of the Figuratives 2025 competition, a carefully curated selection of works by the artist Marcos Lozano, opening on November 26, coinciding with the closing of the Figuratives exhibition.

Between the memory of time and the matter of the present, Marcos Lozano’s painting revives the deep echo of the Spanish Golden Age, projecting it through a contemporary sensibility. Each brushstroke becomes a dialogue between beauty and wound, between refined technique and a passion rooted in the intimate. His works, created on rugged wood, breathe history, myth and silence: where form breaks through, art becomes living memory.

Born in Madrid in 1990 and trained at the Complutense University of Madrid, Lozano has developed a body of work that connects tradition and modernity, exploring figurative painting and the genre of history painting from a renewed perspective. Co-founder of Ars Pulchra, his career has led him to exhibit in Madrid, Barcelona, London, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Paris and Bergamo, consolidating a pictorial voice of international reach.

He currently lives and works in the south of France with his family, continuing an artistic pursuit marked by beauty, transcendence and the profound humanity of his work. Curated by José Ignacio Ruiz Caparrós (@caelisgaleria)
