Friday´s Blues & ELENA LASCO & MIRIAM APARICIO

Friday, October 18, 6:00 p.m.: Presentation of the “Blues & Boogie Piano Meeting” Cycle with:
    ELENA LASCO & MIRIAM APARICIO
Elena Lasco, piano. Miriam Aparicio, piano, voice.

In advance and presentation of the “Blues & Boogie Piano Meeting” cycle that will be held during four Fridays in November, we have two notable and excellent female pianists such as Elena Lasco and Miriam Aparicio.
The great jazz pianist Elena Lasco - first figure of jazz in Russia, in the Nordic countries and, now also in Spain - is well known for her festive and contagious swing. She was a kind of prodigy girl in the then Soviet Union, where she came to have her own television program and became a celebrity. Virtuoso of both classical and jazz piano, she received in 1989 the praise of the American producer Quincy Jones, who considered her one of the most talented jazz performers in Russia. From 1990 to 1999 she lived in Oslo, where she had a lot of performances. Since 2000 she has been living in Spain, where she has been required to participate in different festivals of classical and jazz music. She has traveled to London, the city where she debuted in 2009 at the Conway Hall and at the Pizza Express Jazz Club. In the MEAM we will have the opportunity to discover a pianist who expresses herself with an impeccable swing and that, in addition, is one of the most representative names of the prolific and unknown scene of Russian jazz.

In an unpublished concert she will share the stage with Miriam Aparicio, a Barcelona pianist of classical formation, who is seduced by African-American music with roots. Her first steps in piano blues are made by the pianists Lluís Coloma and Julio Lobos.

Years later she becomes a pianist, singer and director of her own gospel group Masoulfield through which renowned names in the music scene pass. She has been a pianist of Tota Blues Band with whom she has participated in various festivals such as Hondarribia and has also become the pianist of Big Mama, with which they perform an acoustic review of the repertoire of the great blues divas that  has taken them to participate in various festivals, as well as being part of the Womblues women's trio with Big Mama and Sweet Marta.

An excellent presentation of the already traditional “Blues & Boogie Piano Meeting” cycle of MEAM.
