Paul San Martín was born in San Sebastián in 1979. He holds an advanced degree in jazz piano, but his great passion has always been the blues. His first contact with the genre came through British rhythm & blues groups from the 1960s. He has been performing since the age of 15 and is currently deeply immersed in the piano tradition of the blues, mastering styles such as “stride” and “boogie woogie”. In 2011, he released his first solo album, “Tracks”, on the Gaztelupeko Hotsak label, a piano and vocals recording.

Together with his band, he has participated in various blues festivals and, for five consecutive years, performed at the prestigious San Sebastián Jazz Festival. In the summer of 2007, the band also released its first album.

His influences include musicians such as Alan Price, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roosevelt Sykes, Memphis Slim, Otis Spann, Sunnyland Slim, Dr John, Professor Longhair and James Booker.

Throughout his extensive career, Paul San Martín has collaborated with highly regarded artists including Nico Wayne Toussaint, Otis Grand, Gerry Hundt, Lluís Coloma, James Armstrong, Ñaco Goñi, Slam Allen, Sax Gordon, Chris Ruest and legendary blues artist Billy Boy Arnold. In 2013, Paul once again released an album on the Gaztelupeko Hotsak label, “Paul’s Mood”, a piano and vocals recording that explores the different styles of the blues.

In 2023, together with the band Noa & The Hell Drinkers, he won the European Blues Challenge held in Chorzów, Poland.

Paul is coming directly from San Sebastián to take part in the MEAM’s Fridays Blues & Boogie Woogie Piano Meeting cycle.

Marc Ferrer began playing the piano at the age of 5, studying at the Municipal Conservatory of Barcelona. From a very young age, he developed an interest in Blues and Jazz.

After playing with various bands, in 1996 he joined Chevy & the Hot Wheels, now reformed as The Big Jamboree.

He is a member of bands such as The Big 3, Velvet Candles and Big5, and has collaborated with musicians including Marian Barahona, Big Dani Pérez, Agustí Burriel, Pere Miró, Oriol Romaní, Ricard Gili, Paul Evans, Víctor Puertas, Dale Hawkins, JD McPherson and Tammy Savoy, among many others. He has performed at renowned venues such as La Boîte, Jamboree, Bel·luna Jazz Club, Milano Cocktail Bar, Casa Fuster and Half Note Jazz Club in Athens. He has also participated in major festivals such as the Barcelona Blues Festival, Cerdanyola Blues Festival, R&R Festival Paris, Country Rock Toulouse, Rock & Roll Festival Attignat, Jazz Cittaducale in Rome and Rythm’ Riot in the United Kingdom.

Together with his trio, he has released several albums highly appreciated by blues fans, as well as founding his own recording studio and record label, Ambit Records.

He has appeared on programmes such as “Sputnik”, “La Cosa Nostra” hosted by Andreu Buenafuente, “Ritmes i Blues a l’estudi” and “Cava de Blues” on Televisió de Catalunya and TV3. He is currently part of the house band of the programme “Late Show con Marc Giró” and also collaborates with Víctor Ollé’s weekly radio programme “Sitjazz”.
