Beyond its spectacular collection of contemporary figurative painting, the MEAM offers a wide range of activities and initiatives.

We invite the public to immerse themselves in a unique sound journey where, as is customary at MEAM, music intertwines with art and history.

On some Sundays at 18:00, the museum will open its doors to offer a complete cultural experience, where the audience can enjoy an exclusive concert and explore our exhibitions. This initiative aims to bring live music to all audiences, promoting artistic diversity in a unique setting.

This series is designed as a journey through different musical traditions, representing the sounds that have defined cultures and eras. Each concert will be a window into a different sonic universe, connecting music with the historical and artistic context of the museum. The proposal celebrates the richness of musical styles and their capacity to evoke emotions and stories from different times and places.

Beyond its spectacular collection of contemporary figurative painting, the European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM) offers a wide range of activities and initiatives.

On this occasion, we will feature the artists:

Chino Swingslide: resonator guitar and vocals.

    DESCRIPTION:

On this occasion, Chino transforms his guitar into a sonic passport to explore territories rarely visited in his career: porteño tangos, Spanish coplas, Cuban boleros, Creole waltzes, and even medieval romances that have been passed down orally through the centuries. Far from being a mere exercise in style, Chino approaches this repertoire with respect and freshness, making each genre breathe anew without losing its essence.

A journey through Ibero-American and Spanish popular song. Chino Swingslide (Hernán Senra), a prominent artist in the blues and swing scene, dares to cross sonic borders to present a different and surprising concert. With the resonator guitar as his inseparable companion, he immerses himself in a repertoire full of history and emotion.

The audience will be able to hear works such as La Mariposa (Flores/Maffia), Falsa Moneda (Perelló/Mostazo), Bodas Negras (Urquiza), Te quiero (Palorma), or the Romance of the Lover and Death, alongside anonymous pieces and classics by authors such as María Elena Walsh or Rafael de León.

The program thus becomes a true bridge between eras and geographies: from Spain’s Golden Age to 20th-century Latin American popular song, passing through postwar copla and children’s lyrics turned collective memory. What might seem like a risky combination becomes, in Chino’s hands, a natural and fascinating experience.

The interpretive power of his resonator guitar, combined with the warmth of his stage presence, gives each piece new life. This is not just about performing songs: it is about telling stories, evoking memories, and bringing the audience closer to a repertoire that, despite its diversity, shares a common root in shared emotion.

With the magnetism that has made him shine in venues, clubs, and festivals worldwide, Chino offers an intimate and powerful concert. An invitation to rediscover the richness of Ibero-American and Spanish popular song in a new light, to travel through melodies that transcend time and borders, and to be carried away, simply, by poetry, music, and emotion.
