Without a doubt, August Tharrats is a pioneer of Blues and Boogie Woogie piano in Catalonia. At the age of 4, he discovered the Blues by listening to Ray Charles, Louis Armstrong, Lionel Hampton...
He is a completely self-taught piano virtuoso, which has led him to approach this music with humility, creating a highly personal musical language. Perhaps for this reason, musicians such as Teddy Edwards, Gene "Mighty Flea" Connors and B.B. King have congratulated him on his way of playing the blues.
An admirer of Kansas City school pianists such as Jay McShann, he is now a prestigious bluesman on the national scene, renowned for his interpretative quality and honesty on stage.
With his outstanding technique and undeniable feeling, he is a musician capable of captivating audiences with a personal style full of blues, boogie-woogie and swing, combined with an enormous ability to connect with the audience.
Cristian Moya was born in Rosario, Argentina, to musician parents. He began studying piano as a child at the National School of Music in Rosario, later completing his modern piano studies at L'Aula del Liceu in Barcelona.
He has accompanied Andy Moss, one of the singers of the legendary American band "The Platters", on several tours, as well as several American bluesmen such as Patrick Hazell (Iowa) and Bob Margolin (Muddy Waters’ guitarist).
He has taught blues and boogie-woogie piano and performed at the Madrid Blues School alongside José Luis Pardo, a renowned Argentine guitarist based in the capital and founder of the school.
Not content with this, Cristian has devoted himself to researching and exploring the different styles of blues piano, developing a broad repertoire that allows him to perform with remarkable skill in styles ranging from old-time blues and Chicago blues to country blues, ragtime, early jazz, swing and boogie-woogie.
He currently performs concerts throughout Catalonia, Spain and the rest of Europe with Carlos Shelly's Rhythm & Blues Band, Exilio New Tango and The Smokin’ Stones (a tribute band to The Rolling Stones), and has also launched his own project, Poyo Moya Band.
