    DESCRIPTION:

Renowned pianist Chiara D’Odorico invites the audience to embark on a musical journey full of nuances and sonic dialogues in her recital “CONTRASTS – European and Latin American Music.”

The program presents a fascinating dialogue between contrasting—but deeply connected—musical worlds, featuring works by European and South American composers, with a special emphasis on Paraguayan music, spanning from the 18th to the 21st century. Many of these pieces will receive their European premiere in this concert.

The repertoire stands out for its dynamic interplay between solo piano works and four-hands pieces, revealing expressive contrasts and unexpected harmonies across time and geography.

More than a celebration of diversity within classical music, this recital offers a unique opportunity to discover lesser-known gems of the Paraguayan repertoire in dialogue with major works of the European canon.

The four-hands pieces will feature Argentine pianist David Lonardi as Guest Artist.

    BIOGRAPHY:

Chiara D’Odorico was born in Asunción and began studying piano at the age of four with her mother, Miriam de D’Odorico. She continued her training with major teachers such as Bruno Gelber and Manuel Massone in Argentina, and later in Europe with Pierre Réach, Denis Lossev and others.

She is considered one of the South American pianists with the greatest international projection, awarded with numerous distinctions that highlight her artistic career, including: Tourism Ambassador of Paraguay, Artífices del Cambio Award, Outstanding Young Person of Paraguay, and the National Youth Prize, granted by the President of the Republic.

She maintains an intense musical activity both as a soloist and with orchestra, with performances in over forty countries across five continents, including Brazil, Colombia, the United States, Germany, Italy, France, the Vatican, Spain, Austria, England, Russia, South Africa, Lebanon and India.

She has released three albums —Purahéi che retãgua (nominated for the 2020 Gardel Awards for Best Classical Album), Ofrenda a mi tierra, and Añoranza— aimed at promoting Paraguayan classical music.

Committed to spreading the music of her country, she has premiered and performed works by Paraguayan composers in major international venues.

As an educator, she teaches children and young pianists from different countries. She has given masterclasses in Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico, the United States, Costa Rica, Paraguay and Argentina, and has served as a jury member in youth piano competitions.

    Critics have written:
Russia: “(...) lively fingering, a touch capable of producing multiple sonorities, and an uncommon command of dynamics for an artist of her age.”
Portugal: “(...) she demonstrated her talent and skill through a select repertoire of renowned European and Latin American composers.”
Paraguay: “The artist delivered all her sensitivity, expression and emotion in her piano performance.”
