18 Jul 26Melodies without borders: A tribute to Teresa Berganza | Saturday Classics
A journey through the voice and soul of one of the most iconic mezzosopranos of the 20th century. Teresa Berganza took vocal music beyond geographical and stylistic boundaries, combining lieder, canción, mélodie, and opera with equal depth and expressiveness. This concert aims to pay tribute not only to the melodies she performed and recorded, but also to her artistic spirit: sensitive, bold, and versatile, capable of moving from German lieder to Spanish canción or French mélodie with the same naturalness and interpretive depth. In this recital, mezzo-soprano Mar Esteve i Rodrigo and pianist Soojeong Jo explore the melodies that Berganza sang in her recitals and recordings, revealing her inspiration and interpretive magic. From Spanish folk songs to German and French melodies, each piece is a window into the sensibility of a unique artist.
