Workshop with Kike Meana

Workshop with Kike Meana

“Alla Prima” Human Figure Workshop. October 25th to 28th from 9 am to 3 pm.

On this occasion, we change the conventional format of most of the workshops to work in a new way during the four days of duration.

The teacher will paint a picture on his own canvas, starting from the same image as all the students. Everyone at the same time as the teacher will paint in their painting following the guidelines that the teacher indicates as they go along.

Therefore, it is the teacher who, as he paints his painting, will explain every little detail, both on the palette and on the canvas; brushstroke, amount of impasto, color mixture, and all the nuances that the students will reproduce at the same time.

It is about making the painting with a more spontaneous, direct, and free execution and invoice, without the need to literally cling to the image and with direct impasto paint, without thinner or medium. We will work by loading the canvas with a lot of paint that we will dominate on the canvas.

We will work with a range of large and bristle brushes to learn how to interpret the starting image with a looser, more spontaneous, dynamic, and free language without losing the substance of a realistic painting.

This pictorial process can be compared to the method of some nineteenth-century painting masters such as Joaquín Sorolla, Anders Zorn, or John Singer Sargent.
