International painting and sculpture competition

Figurativas 2019

The Foundation of Arts and Artists again calls all figurative artists to the 10th International Figurativas 2019 Painting and Sculpture Competition, endowed with a First Painting Prize of up to € 36,000, a Sculpture Acquisition Fund of € 40,000 and a fund to be determined for the acquisition of works. We are talking about a contest that brings together in a great exhibition the most recent figurative creation in the plastic arts at an international level.

The participants, from more than 80 countries, meet at the MEAM every two years to attend the official opening ceremony of the exhibition of the finalist works and awarded by a jury of the highest level, mostly painters, among them artists like Antonio López García, Odd Nerdrum, Lita Cabellut, Richard Estes, Gottfried Helnwein, Nicola Samorì, Daniel Graves, Jacob Collins, Alex Kanevsky and Eduardo Naranjo. The jury will meet in Barcelona at the end of June 2019 to choose among the participants: a first prize, the mention of honor and finalists works. These works will become part of the largest sample of figurative painting and sculpture that will be inaugurated at the MEAM in Barcelona at the end of 2019.

The Foundation seeks to promote and disseminate Realist/Figurative Art, and its main purpose is to encourage artistic initiatives and sponsor artists. In this way, the relevance of contemporary figurative art is reinvindicated through the emergence of a rich generation of living artists who create a large stable, active and dynamic community.

Participation in these calls brings with it numerous activities around the exhibition that are focused on the general public, which gives greater visibility to the work and career of the artist in the growing contemporary figurative scene.

If you want to be part of this great community, look for the Rules of the Contest and fill out the registration form published at www.fundaciondelasartes.org until April 12, 2019.
